Spherical Panorama Projection

Hi,

I have a problem with spherical panoramas. I want to project them onto some geometry. I tried to use a point light and put the panos at the environment/IES map parameter. But in this case the projection isn’t accurate and always upside down…(Don’t know how the mapping of the panoramas works but I think I need some sort of UVs?) .
So I used a sphere with UVs as a geometry light. The projection aligns better with my geometry but the light isn’t as sharp as it is with the point light (see attached images).
So is there a solution to either use a point light and access the mapping or use the geometry light and get a sharp light projection? Some other suggestions would also be great

Thanks!

can you just use Envmap VOP?

Try a uv texture sop to project uv's as polar coordinates, then you can apply whatever material you like.

Hey,

thanks for your replies!
I have to project onto existing UVs. So I can't use a UV texture SOP.
Never saw the envmap VOP. Cool feature and good to know.
But I found out that flipping the image vertically works perfectly with a point light and everything aligns fine.
