Hey there,
when I type an expression function in a parameter field in Houdini 14 there is no quickhelp anymore. In Houdini 13 there used to be a Tool tip telling you what arguments the function needs. See attached pic.
Also the “path autocompletion” in parameter fields acts different now.
In Houdini 13 when you started typing a path to an object (e.g. in a stamp-expression function) it automatically suggested possible node names. Now in H14 you have to type a starting letter of any node in the network to get a dropdown list of all possible nodes.
See second pic.
Hope the explanation is somewhat understandable
Can anyone confirm this behavior? Should I log a bug?
Cheers, Michael
Here are my specs:
Houdini 14.0.221
Windows 7 Service Pack 1
NVidia Quadro 4000 (driver version 341.21)
No Expression Quickhelp and Path Suggestions in Houdini 14

Seconded.
I've also noticed the tooltip help in the Python shell in 14.0.265 has altered. It will give you a list of functions as in 13, but if you write a function and then pause at an open bracket, in 13 it would give you the help for that function in a large tool tip, in 14 you get nothing. For example:-
n = hou.node('/obj/geo1/attribrandomize1')
print n.asCode(
In h13 this would give you a complete description of asCode(). In 14 we get nothing.

Goddy McRoodtI'd suggest submitting your own bug for this, that way they'll be reminded it is an issue and it will also register your interest in it so if it does get fixed you will (should?) be notified.
any news yet anyone?
Really missing auto complete feature. Not only tooltips but pressing tab is useless for me. only suggests arb things that have no relevance to what im doing

This question I have already asked. https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=39383 [sidefx.com] Since then, nothing has changed.

Please Fix it SideFX!
I'm trying to learn but this is making the process even harder that it already is.
Many Tutorials that I see the tutor relies many times on it to explain what's going on but I can't follow!
Also there are many hints that may help me when trying something mine that I don't see.
I'm even thinking about asking the studio to install an older version (13) to study, but I think it would be better to start from the last version so I don't get old habits.
So again, please Fix this issue.

Vladimir Delfov“All I know is my gut says ‘maybe’.”
Any chance the developers will fix it this year?
Writing code for fun and profit since... 2005? Wow, I'm getting old.

I've been noticing this for a while and just found this thread trying to find the solution.
I'm on 15.0.321 in Win8.1/64bit - GeForce GTX680M.
To confirm, all tooltips report the parameter name, and that I should press F1 for more info. I'm sure there used to be a lot more info than that…
Are other people still hitting this issue? :?
Best wishes
Jeff
