The Amazon Cloud render service is unavailable indefinitely for Houdini due to reasons outside of SideFX's control. We were hopeful about resolving the issues and had been working on it for months but it has become clear that a solution is not forthcoming.
We encourage you to use other cloud computing solutions like Gridmarkets:

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Hi there, for the past few hours I've been trying to get the Amazon Cloud rendering to work on my version of Houdini 15.
And then I ran into this post. Wish I'd seen it earlier.
But just to clarify… Is it still offline? Or is it back online now..? (I ask because it's been a couple of weeks since the post said it would be a couple of weeks).
When trying to submit cloud jobs from within Houdini, I can get all the way through to the submit dialogue box (after the dependences dialogue), but after clicking the “Submit” button, nothing happens. No error.. No web browser launching.. Nothing. Also there's no “cloudsubmit.log” that has been created on my machine. Is that normal?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
Chris

What's the status of the service? I'm experiencing problems at job submission.
From the log:
AuthFailure: Unable to launch image ami-0d7eba49 as the product code 5D6864EE is not supported for the specified region, instance type and operating system combination. Please contact the vendor for more information.
Is this expected behaviour because the Service is still “not Ready” or is the Service online again and it should be working?

Hello,
Houdini 15 access to the Amazon Cloud is unfortunately still unavailable. We are very sorry for the inconvenience as this has taken a lot longer to get back online than first anticipated.
At the very least, I can give a proper status update…
We finished the technical changes required to run Houdini 15 on the cloud. Work is now being done on the billing component. We are currently switching over from Amazon's DevPay system to the AWS Marketplace which is required when using modern OS's on the cloud as well as running the modern, high-performance instance types.
We have sent in our Marketplace seller application and are waiting for approval. Once the application is complete, then it's a matter of testing with the new billing system and final touches.
I'd rather not say that everything will be ready in X days since we've failed to meet such rough deadlines in the past but I will say that we are actively working on H15 cloud support and aim to have it running ASAP!
Cheers,
Rob

Notwithstanding the startup issues with Amazon, this is an excellent objective. Enabling cloud rendering integral to Houdini will be an enormous win and well ahead of any competition. I have a great deal of experience with Amazon's cloud with both Mathematica and my own matter physical reality simulator swarm technology so if I can be of assistance let me know.

I have and I love Gridmarkets.com - the primary difference is that with Amazon Cloud I can choose one super-high CPU computer to compute sims on.
I may be wrong about this, but I believe that with Grid Markets I am stuck with 10 computers, not necessarily high-CPU ones….?
Hi Cameron W . . . GridMarkets.com can currently allocate up to 150 machines (24 cores and 64 gb) to your job. In roughly two months time, that will be increased by 2x the machine count. Note also, you can render Houdini (15.5) with Mantra OR Arnold. GridMarkets also supports simulations and dependencies. See www.gridmarkets.com/houdini for details.

Hi,
Just an FYI that we'll be showing Houdini rendering on Zync as part of Google Cloud Platform at Siggraph next week @ the SideFX booth and opening up to testers shortly thereafter.
If you'd like to test, please email prives@google.com
thanks,
Todd Prives
