Redshift doesn't like Alembic?

Hi everyone,

Could really use some advice (again)

I'm trying to render an alembic file with Redshift. I tried everything, but without luck.

This is what I tried:

# adding redshift properties
# tried all the different alembic nodes
# of course checked the houdini docs
# searched the forums/internet
# tried different Maya alembic export settings

Somehow the Alembic object is not visible in the render…. What am I missing? (Everything works fine with Mantra, just import and render. Boom! )

Redshift can only render “real” geometry. Try dropping down an Unpack node after your Alembic. This should make the geometry visible to Redshift for rendering. It also can not render Polygon Soup type geometry. In these cases just drop down a Convert and convert from mesh to mesh.

Thanks again Enivob, adding a convert node did the trick.

Cheers!

FYI - It's on the RS radar - direct rendering support of Alembic. It's not a feature target of the current RS 2.50 feature cycle (to my knowledge).
