Hi,

I'm on a Mac using Houdini for a project and am looking at purchasing a simple 3DS Rigged character from TurboSquid but would like to get it into Houdini rigged so I don't have to rig it myself.

Anyone know of a way to do this?

Does FBX carry over rigging information?

Thanks,

Jim

FBX will bring across joints AKAIK, but not any IK/constraints etc
you could then use the Autorigs to build a rig that matched closely depending on the rig.

If what software you're animating your rigged character doesn't matter, I've definitely had success in the past exporting my final rigged character as an FBX into Houdini after animation was done in an external software, but that definitely gives you way less control of handling things in one software as a downside.
