Hi, I'm still very new to Houdini.

I'm making a short film using Unreal Engine and making assets and simulations in Houdini Indie and using Houdini Engine to transfer to Ue4.

I need to make a simulation of a spaceship breaking through a cloudbank like in this trailer for Beyond Good and Evil2 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9VPnI34dPw [www.youtube.com]
Around 3:18 minutes into the trailer.

I want to make the simulation in Houdini and then take into Unreal Engine.

Does anyone know of any good tutorials or can point me in the right direction?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm still very new to Houdini.

What you just said right there is incompatible with the rest of your post.

You could purchase some of Timucin Ozger's tutorials which will get you in the ball park, but he doesn't cover Unreal stuff.

All I can say is that you've got a very long and difficult road ahead grasshopper!

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I know it's a big ask for a beginner but I'm gonna do it either way. Just might take some time. I will check out the tutorials you suggested, thanks again.

Come back and post the finished product once you're done with it. I'm very curious.

P.S.

Also watch some of Steven Knipping's tutorials on volumes and particle systems:

I will say this -- your biggest hurdle will be to get the VDB sim looking good, beyond that making the spaceship a collision object should do the trick. Just be ready for very long sim and render times if you want it to look good.

Also, for Unreal, check out all the SideFX LABS stuff if you haven't already.

I might tackle doing something like this in one of my upcoming tutorials, so if you're interested here's a link to my channel: www.youtube.com/c/RightBrainedTutorials

Thanks for all the info, very much appreciated.

I might be biting off more than I can chew but you gotta aim high to get the best results!

I need this simulation for an Animated Series I'm making in Ue4.

Check out episode 1 for Earth 2150: https://youtu.be/yD3xyuswqyw [youtu.be]

In ep2 The pilot is descending to Ground Level and that is where I need a sim of a huge ship

birthing from the clouds below as he descends.
