Hi, after using Maya for 10 years, I'm trying out Houdini and starting from modelling, I'm slowly getting used to and love many features but I'm facing a big issue, it's not project or geometry related, it happens all the time. I'm basically doing an extrusion the pushes some faces inside a little bit, then bevel those edges just created by the extrusion, and then, when I subdivide, the edges get totally broken. I can't understand why it breaks, and I don't think it's such a strange thing to do, I see it as quite normal so I'm guessing that I'm missing something.
Here an example before subdividing
And here, after subdividing
Edges breaks after subdividing

I have seen similar artefacts before - and recall eliminating them by fiddling with parameters in the subdivide node, and maybe the bevel node. I can't reproduce on your simple example. My hunch is your geometry is messed up with some duplicate geometry that sits on top of your intended geometry. You can't debug by eyeballing the geometry you need to upload your hip file.
I am not sure how you did things so I have done a couple of different approaches. It might help you track down your problem.

Thanks, I guess the problem it's about subdividing a mesh with bevels, I tried to play with the settings of either the subdivide and bevel node, but nothing changed, after looking at your obj, I'm assuming that I either apply a bevel to geometry with already enough resolution or if I want to go down the subdivide path, I'll have to add supporting edges, no bevels.
