Hi,
May I place product suggestions in this forum? (is this the most appropriate way to make suggestions?)
I wish to drag and drop many images into Houdini as reference images rather than pressing shift + i and selecting 1 and repeating this process so many times.
I'm pushing to do everything in Houdini and dumping as many APPs and DCCs as possible, including pure ref. I like to make a geo node called "image_ref" and dumping ref in there. Can we please just do a drag drop or, if thats not possible, can we choose multiple images ?
Thanks
Steve

Usual way is to submit an RFE (request for enhancement) at https://www.sidefx.com/bugs/submit/ [www.sidefx.com] or send an email to support@sidefx.com

I would go as far as asking SideFX to implement drag-and-drop anything. I'd love to simply drag-and-drop FBX and ABC filed directing into the OBJ context, or drag-and-drop EXR's and TIFF's directly into the MAT context as textures.

as long as you can also disable/extend it... thats the beauty of how it is now, you can infinitely extend it, and its a beautiful thing. I have so many options at this point in odtools for this kinda stuff, that I wouldnt want to miss.

It's a bit off-topic, but I really wonder how you're going to make Houdini a PureRef replacement.
For example, I can make an image plane that's unlit and forced shaded, via Visualize SOP. However, how could I keep it visible when I'm working on the other parts of the network? Even if I have the template flag on, it will still be grayed out. I know it's not a big deal, but it's not what people who use PureRef would expect.

Also, to the comment about replacing pure ref.
- I already have done so using the above-mentioned workflow, and it's good enough
- I don't need to ask my workplace for software installations
- Pure ref is esoteric (for me)
- Simply after drag and drop features
I will also include the above-mentioned suggestions to have drag and drop extended to file formats.
Sorry for my late reply as well, I'm not used to this forum and thought I would get a notice.
All the best.

with ODTools, you can drop any image in and decide whether its a reference image, bg image, a quad, trace or whichever...
