Remesh: fixed boundaries

Is there any way to Remesh in Houdini where the boundaries aren't fixed. I'm looking to be able to remesh the entire mesh to uniform triangles, but by default the edge points are maintained; creating a lot of tiny triangles.

An example of what I'm taking about is how you can choose "Fixed Boundary" or "Free Boundary" in Autodesk Meshmixer. When set to fixed it behaves like Remesh in Houdini, but when set to free it allows the edge points to be changed by the density settings.

Thanks in advance

Hi Shyrock,

Perhaps you can remesh, polyreduce and remesh again. It may not be elegant

In a couple of weeks, when Houdini 20 is released, we may be able to use the new point cloud surfacing feature to address this problem

I'm really curious to test it out, and hope that it comes with a second input for a guide geometry to follow in the mesh construction.

Thanks, Christian, for the sample file. That does look better than the Remesh alone.

Andr, thanks for the heads up about H20, you've got me curious.
