Hi.
First, I constructed a virtual camera with the program (very complex).
Then I proyect a sketch with the program (simple, is still a sketch).

Then I take a photograph of the scene with a physical renderer and take the ortographic perspective of the negative (is not possible yet to obtain photo-quimic events for totally analogic results). So the program calculate the scene out there and I captured the light that tresspass 53 mediums of specular materials, glasses, coatings, diaphragm, ...

The concept of the sketch starts with a proyect called S-50. More a dream than nothing else. A playground for kids constructed with plastic and resins (resignia), concrete, ...

But a visual search and the organic feelings let me call it "The Worm´s Garden (gärgäntä)". The tematic has at this level a very dark aspect.

The objective is a functional model of a Canon 24 mm II USM mounted in a Canon EF, with a Canon APS-C film (22.1 mm wide) in panavision format.
F-stop 8.

The first picture has 1:20 hours, this one has 20 hours of rendering!!! (I know...)
I feel that the sketch needs a new perspective.

This is super interesting. How did you build the lens? Did you get CAD data from Canon? Or did you model it yourself?

Have you tried some simple, maybe less interesting, test to see how your model compares to the real thing?

Hi, thanks for the warm.

Some time ago I rendered this approximation. Without welding points. I liked the "trepidation" (through motion blur) effect.
Is very difficult to contrast with a real photograph the progresses.
Is also exciting to obtain a synthetic photography (yesterday I see that this term is used for another purpose actually). Maybe it must be called too "real digital photography", as it only is an electronic process in a computer.

I model the lenses with a diagram from internet, is an approximation. I´m pretty sure that with the adequate Canon information about lenses definition and real tabulation information of spectrums it will be a faithful consideration.

Wow, that is impressive.

Now you can design lenses that are impossible to build in the real world do to the limits of physics.

Yes, I can experiment with a great variety of things over these schemes, but I only can describe physics (because of the nature of the renderer...).

Cathedral.

This is another proyect in progress. It is a Cathedral made of plastic. Is in an early stage of development, I need to learn a bit of houdini to distribute correctly the pneumatic union parts of the modules.

Is a long run to produce a complete study, I will posting photographys from time to time...

I want to reproduce the motion blur effects of this old nocturn study of a more advanced stage (losted).

The first picture is a traditional render.
The second is a recent study with a camera (same Canon 24 mm II USM objective).

Film size 22.1 x 22.1 mm.
Ortographic camera size 35.1 x 35.1 mm.

Camera body material, phong , black, roughness 0.8.
Film material, difusse, pure white.

You are seeing the film, the shadow of the film over the back of the interior body camera, and the complete proyection of the lenses.
A photograph is like this, a circle inscribed in a square. Then you can choose a cropped format...

This description describes a very special motion blur, far from a traditional render...

Canon 24 mm, 8 hours.

First view of O-55.
The proyect is close to be finished. Maybe about 5 images would be enough.

The vignetting is not a fake but the product of the simulation of the camera. Double diaphragm, one with F-stop 4 and 2 mm back another with a F-stop 8.
