I experience a similar but different issue:
I can't add colors to this palette and make them persistent. SideFX supports insists it's saved to a file called "opColorPalette.def". But it just doesn't exist on my system.
On my system they are permanent, but you need to right-click the colour palette and save as default, then the opColorPalette.def file gets saved in C:\Users\username\Documents\houdini20.0\config

Let's look at the situation from the other side. Of the hundreds of programs currently running, and of the thousands of programs over the years on this computer, Houdini is the only program that is confused in its ways. And this is clearly a problem for Houdini programmers.
Read again - After deleting the settings folder, Houdini resets all settings to default, BUT leaves custom colors. A simple question - where did he hide them? These files with the default theme are simply not in the system. At all. Neither on drive C nor on drive D.
We simply add up the facts and draw conclusions.
Here in the screenshot, after deleting the settings folder, everything was reset to default - desktops, menus, fonts, viewport, and the colors of the nodes were custom! Where did he hide them? tragicomedy...

Ah, yeah, it works. Thank you very much. SideFX supports have exchange several emails with me on this issue... but no one mentioned that I needed to save as default. Not blaming them too much tho... perhaps it's so obvious to them and no one thought that I would not know it.

Again, it works for everyone else but you, therefore you are the problem, not the software, at this point it has become a joke, this is trolling, nothing else!

There are a lot of functionalities hidden under right-click, often those are not always evident to find!

Well, that's what I said. Deduction! Holmes approves! File found. Houdini writes the node colors to this default.nodecolors file in the build folder in the subfolder "houdini"!
This is not where the node's custom colours for the network editor are registered, you can open it with Notepad and see for yourself, again, the custom node's colours are registered with Default_Theme_theme.nodecolors, you can also open this file with Notepad and see for yourself!

Here is the data that was added to Default_Theme_theme.nodecolors after I changed the colours for a box, tube and torus from inside a geo node!
["Sop/box", [0.800000011920929, 0.01600000075995922, 0.01600000075995922]], ["Sop/tube", [0.3019999861717224, 0.5249999761581421, 0.11400000005960464]], ["Sop/torus", [0.09399999678134918, 0.36899998784065247, 0.6899999976158142]]]

Warm greetings to highly qualified Houdini developers from an unqualified user who is forced to find and correct your mistakes without the slightest information about the structure of Houdini. I wish you a lot of health, success, career, money in the New Year, and that you are less lazy and more smart!
And here you are, trolling again, as you keep bitching Houdini and keep insulting the developers!

This is a very old thread, all questions have been answered, I vote that an admin closes it to avoid more trolling!

I checked that on 569 the horizontal edge does not select the hole.
By the way, do you know why I’m on build 548? because if I install a new build, it erases all my custom node colors and custom tools on the shelf. And I’m already tired of repainting and arranging them 20 times. My chair has already burned down under me. So I have a slightly different opinion about the concern of developers.

I have submitted this exact same issue as an RFE. (#133932)

We need the old method of double clicking an open boundary to select back.
The reason why it still works when you double click the vertical edge on a hole on the sphere, is because the loop can't continue and stops at the poles. This forces it to rather select the hole...which we want.
If you make a hole in any object with perfect loops, it will always continue straight, instead of selecting the open boundary hole.

Not good.

Rather select the hole boundary, and add Ctrl + double click, to select a straight loop.

Thanks to the developers for fixing loop selection in the latest build!
