I’m currently using two 32 inch 4k monitors, but I’m thinking of switching to one 49 inch ultra wide curved monitor. Anyone else using this monitor with Houdini? Thoughts?

Thanks!

if you're okay with having 40% of the screen area, go for it

You can’t spread the UI over the whole screen?

It means that you will have approximately 56% less square pixels of space available in the new setup, than you have with your current one.

2 * 3840 * 2160 = 16588800 [px^2]
5120 * 1440 = 7372800 [px^2]
7372800 / 16588800 = 0.4(4)

You need at least a 7680 x 2160 display to match it, and that usually comes with 57" monitors.

My tired old eyes can't deal with 4k screens, and I'm constantly amazed that all the OS's still have issues applying scaling.

I swapped to a ultrawide about 2 years ago, really like it. I wrote up some thoughts here:

At home I'm using a 34 inch, 21:9, slightly curved monitor and actually prefer it to my dual monitor office setup.

Love mine, but I still had to add second monitor as it's easier (for me) than splitting the screen or use tiler.
