Hello, during my current project, Houdini caused my system to freeze or crash, several times.

When turning the pc back on the usual background image in start up menu are replaced by a blue color and often the screen stays black for minutes after logging in. After several times turning the PC on and off again I can finally see my desktop again.

Often I wait a bit or force PC to turn off with the power button on my case

This happened with heavier scenes and less heavy ones.
Most recent crash happened when I was rendering particles.
8 Million. In Solaris I instanced cubes on to the points.

Feel like 64GB RAM should be able to handle that?

I don't know if it is more of a Windows issue, but it only happens when using Houdini, that is why I am asking here.

It may have been caused by having a single browser tab open as well.

If you don't consider the scene itself, even if you exceeded the RAM limit, the operating system usually kills such a process immediately, but you write about freezing. I would check the RAM via memtest and other diagnostic tools.
