Since I always thought the default Houdini theme feels pretty outdated I spent some time to make it a bit less clunky. A lot of the UI is semi-hardcoded so not everything was customizable, but I still think it's an improvement.
It's a little darker, takes away a lot of the gradients and hopefully makes it all feel a bit more uniform and easy to use. I've used it for a while now and I personally really like it, so maybe someone else would appreciate it too.
The whole process of making a theme is pretty chaotic since a lot of the UI styling isn't really organized, so if you find some elements that look off please send me a note!
Just wanted to pop in to say that the Light Linker text highlight color was pretty invisible. I dug through the .hcs file (yikes, these things are long) and managed to locate the appropriate line. I changed ListEntrySelected under Geometry Spreadsheet to AXSCACCENT. Now selected geo and lights are highlighted in purple.
Hello! I tried the UI you made. I think it's very beautiful. But compared with your presentation, my houdni interface looks more gray. I don't know if it's my setting problem. Have you changed the specific value of the color setting? Can you share it conveniently?(My gamma brightness contrast saturation is all 1) If you can help me, I will thank you very much!
So here the files for the Hipster Dark Theme as portrayed below;
1.
In your /houdiniX.X/folder Paste the files contained in "Zen_HipsterDark_Theme.zip" in your Houdini config folder (don't forget to backup the old ones), Paste the file contained in "Zen_Desktop.zip" in your Houdini desktop folder.

The current selected label is darker,how can we modify this?
Has anyone discovered how to remove/modify the drop shadow on buttons and ordered menus? It seems like they're not defined in any of the main files you can use to modify themes. It's my last obstacle to making a theme that really changes the look and feel of the interface.
Since all the theming peeps are here. animating in houdini made me suddenly crave a whitetheme. qith the default white theme and the defoult graph colours the animation pane is quite unreadable though.
I was playing with those .hcs files trying to change animation curves editor colours for more looking like in MAYA but man... its such a chaos in nameing convention and everything.
Main problem was that i had to edit color values, save file and then restart Houdini wich was time consuming.
But mayby there is easiest way for updating changed colors on UI immediately? Using VEX command or perheps Python?
Anyway i wish that there was something like in Zbrush where you can play with every UI paremeter color and set it like you really like. (With realtime feedback on screen)
