Redshift Material Applied to Different Unconnected Islands

Hi All! I'm very new to Houdini (from c4d/Redshift). Also, my first post to the SideFX forums.

I'd like to use the RS Integer User Data (or other User node) to vary textures or material parameters to an connected set of primitives within an object of a few such connected islands.

I'd appreciate suggestions possibly easier than my current plan: My current plan is to extract each connected island into a new object, create an attribute with a unique integer value for each new object. When creating the RS material then use the Integer User Data node to access that attribute and drive the variation (e.g., driving the Jitter node to produce unique color per object).

Hi Greg!

Yes you can do something similar to the approach that you mentioned but (unless you want to use Cryptomatte), you don't need to separate your islands in multiple objects/geometry containers.
