Simple question.
I have a lava simulation. Whenever I press render nothing is actually rendered. Only by making the geometry from the fluid visible will it render. I try to set the render flag on, and have visibility off, but I must be doing something wrong.
Any tips?

Hey Andreas,
When the visibilty at object level is off, the object wont reneer unless you force it to render in the render settings. What you can do is set the display flag in sop level to an empty null node. And set the render flag (purple) in sop level to the node you want to see in your rendering.
Cheers

Just came here searching for an answer. Even if I put the render flag to purple (enabled) and display flag to off, unless I toggle the objects visibility at obj level, the object doesn't render.
Here I have to toggle the grid geometry visibility at obj level to render it.

When I toggled off its visibility, even though still having the render flag to purple for the null object at sop level, the item doesn't get rendered.

I am using redshift as the renderer.

It's much safer to have your render ROP set up using Forced Objects parameter instead of Candidate object, then your objects will render regardless of whether they are displayed on Object level or not and no flag gymnastics is necessary
this is especially important when a single object is rendered by one ROP but not another

I dont understand what you are trying to do. If you want an object to render but not see it in the viewport it must be visible at Object level. Blueflag on. At sop level you set the display flag to a null.

Ohh..such a basic thing. I understand now. So what's the purpose of purple render flag? It doesn't affect the object visibility in the render at all.

I see. Learnt a new thing today. Found it!

Is there a way to toggle visibility for viewport and render at one location like it's done in C4D?
