Usual wireframe:

Wireframe in APEX animate state:

Is it possible to make them more consistent? APEX's wireframe is so thick and bright that it obscure the viewport too much. But if I decrease the alpha to a point where APEX's wireframe looks good, the usual wireframe is basically invisible.

That would be nice.
What bothers me even more, is the handles - too thick and tiny planar thingies to move in a plane. And the godforsaken glow effect on selected ctrls or handles (not Apex handles, they did this one right with the white color change) instead of solid color change, that plagues all Houdini viewport states, not just Apex, making everything you have selected hard to see and whether you've actually selected what you wanted.

This white wireframe also shows up in the component geometry LOP - is there any way to use the normal wireframe in that LOP?

I believe this was fixed? The wireframe is the same in my local copy of 20.5.410 on macOS. If you have any visibility issues, please log with your configuration. In some cases, I've noticed differences with the handle shadows depending on particular configurations.
