Why can't Karma render 4K images efficiently?

This is my first time trying Karma in a project (I’ve always used Redshift before), and overall the experience has been great—until the final render.

It’s a very simple scene, and when rendering a 2K image (XPU, 512 samples), it only takes about 2 minutes per frame. But once I try rendering the 4K version, the render time suddenly jumps to 5–6 hours per frame!

I noticed that my GPU memory (24GB) gets completely filled right away, and then it starts using shared GPU memory.

Why is this happening? Please help me out! 😢
I'm on Windows 10, using a 4090 GPU, 128GB RAM, and Houdini 20.5.550.

Sorry, I figured it out myself — I had unnecessary displacement turned on and set the dicing quality too high, which filled up my GPU memory. It's all fixed now!
