How do you get a console window open on the mac? I want to see the result of a printf statement in a vex sop.

It does work correctly if you start Houdini from the console instead of using its icon. I believe it's a matter of STDOUT redirection. cheers, Abdelkareem

To see if it is indeed sending to the terminal, I'd open an hscript terminal in Houdini, (Alt Shift t) and: “unix echo foo” and see if that appears in the terminal.
