So, I really like the technique that Jason over at 3dBuzz used to create the tornado. There are methods that I like and methods that I didn't like. I really liked how he created the vortex but then started to wonder…. with the method that he use… can an object attract particles? With the method he used I wasn't able to attract particles to rotate around a mesh.

I tried another technique using “Source from Geometry” but I didn't like it to much. The particles were kind of going all over the place and couldn't get them to do what I wanted. I used the “Attractor” and “Orbit” and couldn't get anything out of it either. What would work to get this type of effect going?

So what I have so far is a particle emitter hovering over my tornado. What I want is when the emitter emits the particles for the tornado geometry to attract them and have them rotate around itself.

Attached are some screenshots of what I have so far. As you can see the emitter is emitting the particles but aren't paying any attention to the mesh. What suggestions can you guys give me to accomplish this?

Ok, so let me ask this… why do the particles in this file meet in the middle of the bottom plane? why don't they just fall onto the plane?

I set the source “point(rendan)” and the attractor force for each particle
