What is the best way to drape an object on another. Say, I want to use a grid to use as a sheet to be drapped over other objects. I do not want to animate it. It is just for modeling purpose. I have a room full objects and want to hang drapery and throw drapery on certain objects. I have used a spring sop and locked it in frame, but it will not render in the final render.

you might be able to do it with a curve clay sop…not completely sure though.. might have to play with it.

heres a tut on it tho. from the modeling section.

You might also look into the Ray SOP, which projects points along their normals until they hit something. Maybe use a grid with few points, and then refine it after.

use a spring sop on the grid, apply gravity and run the simulation, Go to the frame you like the drape and RMB save geometry to a file,
Can't think of a simpler way
