1) why do you compute weighted normals on import? get both normals and tangents
2) did you enable nanite? if yes - there's your answer

Hey SideFX, Steam has an outdated 20 prod build, again :/
as for daily builds, it is stuck on .552
not cool

sounds like you might have a situation where hdas constantly look up for license on each update.
try copying UE plugin from the Houdini installation folder, it works better for me than those files from github

if a 2 hour masterclass takes weeks to prepare, you should consider living a bit further away from black hole

alexwheezyironically, it's surprisingly easy to setup as well
I'm just wondering. And how do you imagine an even simpler way to create clouds? Like painting clouds with a brush in a viewport?

good workaround ⬆️, but will fail with shadows sadly (simple example - ear shadow on the head, etc)

hello, i actually have video playlist on the topic of making your clouds with VOPs: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwiP9Y2SCvQgsHI9YZwdQ4etxIM7HOb8I [www.youtube.com]
you will need first two vids to understand the thinking behind the approach. It is an introductory one, but will help you understand how the H20 examples are made - which are pretty great btw.
the node structure from example actually does what it says - you will need to feed your initial geometry at the top, and it will go do its thing and generate clouds out of it. anyway, good luck with the learning

To rephrase: the only available license on Steam for purchase is Indie, and Steam will be the place to run it (and update it) going forward.
Still waiting for the update.

Sygnumthink of it that way - the amount of people who actually have macbook pros, mac studio max/ultra is in millions, but rendering happens on octane, redshift, and cycles - simply because of the speed. why say no to those people?
isn`t what most or anyone does on laptops - yes, it`s ridiculous to use to much man power on such a tiny group of users.
btw, Houdini is not only about simulating super large vfx. I've spent lots of time doing some moghraphey style ads like toasters flying around and letters looking cool - typical C4D bread and butter. You dont need infinite power there.
(also i'd wager M3max would outperform gen1 and gen2 threadrippers, so they are not exactly "toy" machines now are they)

Houdini Learning Materials » Request for Mechanical Rigging Tutorial Series

i am referring to an arrangement like sidefx had with Tim V with his Mojito Magic (and previous series of Snacks series): https://www.sidefx.com/tutorials/sidefx-snacks-v2-mojito-magic-1/ [www.sidefx.com]
crafting those series did not stall H development i can assure you
your point is not difficult to understand. hopefully mine is clear as well

RudiNieuwenhuisProducing tutorials would not impede development, a different person can record educational material. With your logic all the accounting, licensing, and other departments are standing in the way of developing things faster. (exaggerated example)
Think about it: would you rather have them put more effort in tutorials, which automatically means less time to develop new features...
RudiNieuwenhuisStep by step mechanical rigging tutorials, or so it seems?
What else do you honestly need?
The idea here is that a tool which you have nearly zero idea how to use will be not very useful. I myself am not saying that everyone should drop what they are doing or whatever, but your logic about time spent recording tutorials means less time for development looks counterintuitive.
