Yes it certainly does work Im running a mixed environment, Linux, Windows and it works just fine for that too I looked mostly at this guide getting it up and running: https://www.sidefx.com/faq/question/how-do-i-setup-an-hqueue-server-and-client/ [www.sidefx.com]

I thought the backgroundplate should work w Karma XPU? Ive got a simple scene set up, a ground + a sphere which are added to the background plate, the pig is there to cast shadows.

I don't get the same results with XPU vs CPU. Looking at the holdout shadow pass the primitives added to the background plate seems to cast shadows on each other which doesn't seem right? (The CPU version doesnt have this issue.) EDIT: I posted all this and THEN read the documentation, sorry about that.. "There is some limited support for Background plate". Thing is its working w just a groundplane but not w many different objects.. Also realised the material inside the backgroundplate is VEX based, maybe thats the issue? Either way, hope to see updates about this particular issue as its the only thing preventing me from going full speed XPU for much of the stuff that I do

Solaris and Karma » Karma XPU feels really slow!

Just to chime in on the "faster o no faster than Redshift", in my experience Karma XPU is alot faster.. Of cource not in every case, but doing tons of particles, pyro, the difference in speed is substantial and I left Redshift because of this. Would of cource be a welcomed addon to also pair RS in very refractive environments but overall I think XPU is getting better by the day which is great to see. Its been my main render for over a year now

Bump this thread as I'm also lost about these LPEs "unoccluded", "shadow", are they documented?

Im running 2 * RTX 4090 + 1 * 128 cores threadripper but compared to running the same system with only 1 * RTX 4090 GPU Im seeing only a slight 50% increase in speed.. Is this normal or is there anything I can do to squeeze more juice out of it?? Currently running 19.5.716 Houdini version.

Cool, I will look into it, thanks! So just copying the ocio file from H19.5 should do the trick, what about the lights color pickers and/or textures ,anything different about them?

Im in a middle of a project but really need the new features of Houdini 20. Ive run the default OCIO in Houdini 19.5 -converting all textures to ACEScg and Im happy w the results. Now..when I open up the same scene in H20 all the colors while rendering in Karma looks off.. Ive fiddled around quite abit but cant get the same results.. Not sure if its the textures/lights textures/lights color pickers or something else.. Before I dig deeper, do anyone know how to setup H20 just so that its default ocio behaves exactly like the one present in 19.5 ?

With distributed sims you have to set the "gas net slice exchange" DOP node to always update. (Its set to set to initial by default)
