if I just try to list the files in the archive with cpio -i -t < test.hipnc I get thousands of error messages cpio: Malformed number
Is there some offset involved ?

Is it possible to edit .hip files by hand or script ? Whenever I tried it I just get a corrupt header error message.

I would need to sample a volume with a transfer node or any other node, but without any interpolation. I have some vertices and a volume and need to get the real values of the voxels which contain the vertices without any interpolation. Any suggestions ? ATM I am using a very ugly python/numpy combination which converts the vertices into array indices in the numpy array of the volume… which is very slow and memory consuming..

But you will just be able to install pure python packages. For packages with c/cpp dependencies you would have to configure a visual cpp compiler for your pip environment, which fails in 99% of all cases. The easiest way is to switch linux or maybe use 2 interpreters with execnet

rint() is the way to go, but just out of interest .. is it possible to have conditions in wrangle expressions ?

I have a volume with density values from an isooffset node.
Inside is 1.0 outside is 0.0 but on the border I have all kind of values ranging from 0 to 1.
How can I discretize / binarize the values with houdini ?
ATM I am using a python node with a numpy.where statement which is really slow ..
Maybe with a volume wrangle node ?
but how could I formulate the condition ?

For me it didnt work since version 10 ?!
I thought maybe this could be a win32 issue, but I didnt come around to check the linux builds ..
The other way round it behaves the same ( not working )

Just succeeded in building openvdb on windows x64 but I could not find any documentation on how to build pyopenvdb for win ..
Anyone tried that ?

Thanks a lot !
This is so much faster than my python code !!
I didnt realize that there is a volumeindex function.

Whats the fastest way to mirror a volume ?
I really want to mirror the density field not just the transformation matrix.
ATM I am using a little python script, which is very slow ..
import numpy
node = hou.pwd()
geo = node.geometry()
# Add code to modify contents of geo.
# Use drop down menu to select examples.
volume = geo.prims()
np = numpy.array(volume.allVoxels()).reshape(volume.resolution(), order='F')
# Now we have our numpy 3d array… have fun!
np = np
# set the values of the volume back in Houdini
volume.setAllVoxels( np.flatten(order='F') )

But for FBio i just had to povide a program which converted into any format readable by houdini. In the dicom case I used imagemagic16 to convert from dicom to exr and not to rat .. so I would have guessed that for objects there would be the same approach, to just convert the lwo into any format readable by houdini for example obj and houdini does the rest .

Yea this would be my next step. But I thought that maybe there is a way like there is for fbio to avoid that..
Technical Discussion » Problem with particle fluid scale

I have an particle fluid emitter with the size of 2 cm or 0.02 units.
There seem to be some problem with this scale. Where do I have to adjust the dop network to work at that scale ?
If I scale the emitter by 100 times everything works fine. I have already adjusted the limit box .. what else needs adjustment ?
