So I'm trying to vary the thickness of a tube in L-Systems for a school project. I tried using the ! command but when I add it to rules my tree breaks into pieces. Any help would be appreciated.

I prefer to use the poly wire to make the skin of the lsystem rather than using the tube settings on the lsystem.
I wouldn't have expected that using a ! would change the probability in your rules :-/ I'm not sure if that's a bug or not.
Also, your last rule wasn't being used at all due to the way your probabilies were set-up.

I dont see the tree breaking but I do see the bang command changing the tree, and I've always wondered if that's a bug. I figured it was part of the plant growth algorithm.
