images do not display in houdini!!!!

I assign an image (jpg) and it shows up pink!!!! it works with houdini's default pics though!! they are .pic and .rat….


Must all pics that are used in houdini be .rat and .pic???

No they don't have to be pic or rat, but they get internally converted to pic or rat so you might as well do it yourself and save the overhead of the conversion on every render.

If you try to load your jpeg in mplay, and it fails, Houdini itself won't be able to use it.

To convert to rat, just do this:

icp file.jpeg file.rat

check that your file paths do not have spaces in them - Houdini WILL NOT load anything with spaces in the paths - nor should it.

And if the filename has a number, uncheck on dialog load box, “show sequences as one entry” otherwise the image wont load properly.
