Hello,

I was working with fire with really high settings and even with system which has Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650 @2.67GHz, and ram of 48 GB with NVIDIA Quadro 5000 , Houdini crashes a lot. I am thinking of switching to Linux. I was wondering which version of Linux should I get , if I want to have a professional setup.

Ubuntu, Mint, OpenSUSE or CentOS 6.5?

I was working with Mint,Ubuntu,Fedora ,But I think Mint is really good OS for Artists and VFX projects ,It has really cool and easy GUI ,Some different software ,drivers and codecs installed by default .

I installed Houdini , Nuke , Maya perfectly on it .

Of course ,Maybe sometimes different Linux Distributions are tact ,Maybe every one like to use different Linux :!:

You should working with different Linux to know which one is better for you

]Go With CentOS.
This is Far better than windows and any other Linux Distro in terms of Highend FX Simulations.
Most of the VFX House using centos in production.

Cheers
