In the spirit of the HDK's new availability to all Houdini users, I put together a simple SOP to import terrain data from TerraGen; you can find the DLL, example .hip file, terrain data, etc at:

A linux version will soon be available and a tutorial on odwiki too.
There's still a few things to do, create the “draped” geometry, make a help page and also write an exporter to get geometry into Terragen (the exporter will be in a few weeks).
I've been having a blast with it, I thought you might too.
