Hi guys,
I modeled a cliff in Mudbox and textured it in Mari using Ptex technology (so I have no UVs) and I exported its diffuse, bump and specular texture map as .ptx files.
Do you know how to apply and render Ptex files in Houdini rendering with Mantra or Arnold?
Thank you!

Arnold does not support Ptex at the moment.

With mantra, I believe there is a ptex texture VOP node which you can use in your shader (although I have not tried it yet). Try starting a material shader builder in a shopnet, then press tab, and look for the ptex VOP node
You should also be able to access ptex directly using a texture VOP.
You may need to take the global variables s and t to wire them into the texture coordinates (possibly performing a complement (1-t) on the t variable).

90ender
There used to be a Ptex node, but it seems to have gone missing, perhaps it was implemented in the Texture node? If that is so then I am not sure how to use it now. I tried playing around a bit and no luck.
Anyone know how to do Ptex in houdini 14 now?
Sorry to add to this slightly old thread but just wondering does houdini 15 anything support ptex ?
Houdini 11 supposedly did,or is the feature dying or something ?

neighborleeAs mentioned earlier in the thread, the texture VOP supports ptex files. Just put the .ptex image in the filename.90ender

In addition, the texture baking output driver in H15 can now also bake to ptex files directly.

I'm very new to houdini, and I was asking not about rendering, but for ptex texturing of models.
I've seen mudbox's way of doing it which is very nice but still having trouble finding the same tut for houdini, if one exists at all, -,IE: I do not have mudbox, I need to be able to start or import a model here and ptex it.
