Hello,

Is Houdini 8 compatible with ZBrush 2 & Endorphin 2.0 & 2.5? I'm sure it is, but I wanted to double check.

Also, I just ordered the Houdini 101 from Gnomon. Are they planning on releasing more Houdini material? It would be nice if Side Effects formed a good partnership with Gnomon. Training material is serioulsly lacking with Houdini compared to Maya & XSI.

Not sure about Endorphin, I'm sure there is a way though. Several people have done tests with Houdini and zbrush, you just need to use obj format as your in and out and make a displacement shader that uses 0.5 as no displacement - easy enough. If you hunt around on the odforce website you should find some posts from people who have done it.

No problem with Z brush.
It's also worth mentioning that file operations (importing exporting refreshing) are second to none in houdini in terms of ergonomics.
You export via rop output, and import via file sop, you don't have to lookup files in some explorer, after setting it up all you have to do when you'd like to reexport refined geo is to hit a button, the same with import
No deleting no transforming no clicking to find it.
Sweet.

Here's the response I got from Naturalmotion, who makes Endorphin…

endorphin/ supports import and export of BVH motion files for which
there is some support in Houdini. There is a small standalone
executable
called mcbiovision** which ships with Houdini which I believe takes
care
of BVH import and export.

/endorphin /supports various other import and export formats though so
far as I am aware, BVH is the only common format to both Houdini and
/endorphin/.

Hope this helps.

Phil Elderfield.
