Hey there guys.

I have a question for you regarding OTLs.

Is it possible to create OTLs with redshift nodes inside? I ask because I tried to create an OTL that gives height blending for textures, which is not available in redshift natively ( at least not one that blends displacements by height but also colour accordingly).

So I made a subnetwork. placed rs nodes within it, got it all working, saved the asset, set up a number of parameters, updated the asset and off I went…. However, when I tried reloading that scene it failed. I tried loading the backups of that file but any worthwhile work was done after saving the otl.

Is the issue one of how Houdini loads its parts upon startup? where otls are loaded before plugins are? Or can otls only save native nodes and not plugin nodes? Would be sad if that was the case.

EDIT: got it to work. somewhat…In the material network, it works but I just can't seem to use the newly made otl within a collapsed material…

EDIT #2: It works fine now. I just had to make sure I set the contexts that the otl appears in. All good now.

Hi! I have the same problem.
Can you provide more info about how you resolve that ? Maybe some screenshots…
Thanks!

Not quite an OTL solution, but some ways to get your presets saved within Houdini for later re-use:
