Guide hair creation approaches?

Hello,
So, I'm doing hair. The Fur stuff works wonderfully… once you have decent guide hairs. Sadly, I can't use scatter to distribute some nice guide hairs, they basically have to be attached to points on polys, then I start to get into hairline issues where the hairline is too straight or obviously polygonated…
Anyone have any good ideas to avoid the polygonated-hairline issue? Or am I (yet again) missing something obvious?

Cheers,

Peter B

I tried using the Triangulate 2D SOP with the Scatter SOP on your head geo, from the other post, to see if I could create a new head with randomly scattered polygons.

It sort of worked. Might have to do some manual clean up but it could lead to a decent solution..or a dead end. But like they say….its the journey that counts.

How have you created decent guide hairs? I work on it now for flowers and grass.
