I don't have a middle mouse button and hoping to continue to use houdini without it. Wall I'm running into is MMB clicking on a node to see attributes and other details. Right now using the “Show Information” shows only a limited amount of information on the node:

How do I get it to show all the information below without MMB(This is after I've plugged in a mouse with a middle mouse button)

That's the same amount of information in the same dialog. The first one just hasn't cooked yet, so there's nothing more to show. Neither screen shot shows the info pop-up from the middle mouse, which has no menu bar like that.

The middle mouse button is indispensable in Houdini, and is listed as a requirement https://www.sidefx.com/Support/system-requirements/ [www.sidefx.com]

You can fake it by remapping a keyboard button, but thats only a stop-gap solution. To use houdini properly, get a 3 button mouse (or at the very least a mouse with a clickable scrollwheel, which is 99% of mice these days).

Houdini works fine without the MMB on MacOS, you need to add the following to the “houdini.env” configuration file in “~/Library/Preferences/Houdini/17.0/”:

# HOUDINI MIDDLE MOUSE PAN ENABLE/DISABLE

# https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/56426/?page=1#post-252948 [www.sidefx.com] (penultimate post)
# System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click > Secondary Click set to:
# Click in bottom left corner or Click in bottom right corner.

HOUDINI_MMB_PAN = 0

I have included my comments (the lines preceded by a #).

Other options to provide a MMB-equivalent include jitouch [www.jitouch.com] and BetterTouchTool [folivora.ai], which let you map a three-finger click, for example.

I have a PC with normal mouse. My scroll is working fine, but when i press it to move in obj level or in the view port or even try to see node info nothing is happening. Any help about that? I am with windows 10.

I noticed that MMB click on node output no longer summons op menu and it is thus no longer possible to branch off new node. Bug or feature ? Is there any way to bring it back ? It is double plus moderately annoying.

I'm missing this feature as well. I've found a workaround by dragging a line away from the output of the node you want to branch away from, then hit tab. Your new node will be dropped outside of the flow.
