Creating radially symmetrical geometry

Hello-
I'm wondering if there is a node which can help create radially symmetrical geometry. A biological example might be a starfish, a mechanical example might be a gear.

One way this might work, in the case of a mechanical gear, would be that the artist would create a two-dimensional form with the help of this radial-symmetry node, and then extrude to form the three-dimensional gear. The node would be kind of like a mirror node, except instead of having a single plane for reflection, it would be radial zones which would be repeated.

The ‘copy and transform’-node performs rotations, as well. Just enter 360 / ch(“ncy”) in the rotation parameter (see attachment).

Simply deforming a tube is a good alternative, though. It keeps you from fusing stitched geometry and is more robust:
