I am quite new to all this, so maybe I am missing the “principals” of the whole structure but I have the idea that to build the better house, has to be started with very good “foundations”. So here is a topic, partially resolved but open to any suggestions:

Why and where: Nulls vs. Output node as good practices and/or required.

-DOP: of course, they need an output always, I guess.
– VOP inside: not necessary?
-SOP: yes, null as best practice?
– VOP inside: not necessary.
– Solver: no.
-Chops: I think any of them…
-Others?

Nulls as outputs in sops are more of a ‘best practice’. Output nodes in certain contexts have an actual function. Inside subnets, they designate which stream connects to each output. Even when there's only one output, they are useful as overrides of the display flag. This is especially true of sop solvers, when you might move the display flag around to examine a time step, but don't want to alter the cooking mechanism of the network.
