We usually do UV's in Maya but occasionally I need to do something UV related in Houdini and I forget every time which node to use!
Do I want to UV_Project or Uv_Texture?
Do I want to UV_Unwrap or UV_Flatten or maybe UV_Pelt.
It makes me laugh every single time but this joke is kinda stressy when I'm in a rush.
Clean up the UV SOP Nodes List/Workflow?

Uv texture is generally used on a line or curve as you are creating the model. There isn't really an equivalent of that in maya that I know of. If you want to do seams on a finished model, it is uvflatten. If you want spherical, cyllindrical or planar mapping, use uvproject. Uvpelt is mostly an older and less useful way of pelt mapping.

I'm far from a UV expert, but I did put together a short tutorial a while back based on what I know about using UV's in Houdini:
