Sorry if I'm just missing something obvious, but I'm having some trouble finding information about what the colors mean in the Scene Graph Layers Panel (shades of orange, purple, etc.). Anyone have any information about this, or know where to find it?

Thanks!

..currently usdview seems to be the best place for getting that information:

I don't see any colors in the Scenegraph Layers pane. Do you mean the Details pane or the Scenegraph Tree itself? Here are the docs for the latter, which include some color information.

https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/ref/panes/scenegraphtree.html [www.sidefx.com]

But what Simon posted above is a good reference too.

(The docs for the solaris SG Details are pretty sparse...https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/ref/panes/scenegraphdetails.html)

I think Brian is referring to this type of coloring. There's orange, dark orange, and purple. I also haven't seen official docs on this, but my understanding of the colors are:

Purple = muted layer
Orange = there's an opinion in this layer for your currently selected prim in the Scene Graph Tree
Dark orange = there's an opinion in one of the child layers under me (click the plus) for the selected prim in the SGT

Thanks everyone! Yes, @ckendo, that is the colouring I was talking about, and you're right! It is responsive to the selected primitive, and your description of the colours matches the behaviour I'm seeing. Thanks very much!

What about color Green? Sometime a layer turns green.

My Scene Graph Layers pane has a question mark icon that brings up the color legend. I don't see it in the above screen shots, so maybe it's a new feature (I'm on 19.0.478 with the default Solaris desktop). I've attached a shot of what I'm seeing.
