I have been struggling with something and was wondering how other people might approach this... I have an animated plane that is animated at the SOP level and I want to export to After Effects so I can place some graphics on a screen. If the grid you see in the file is animated, what is the best way to get that info into AE so I can link some graphics to it? 1.) I have tried to Houdini2AE method but that seems to only work if the transform animations are at obj level 2.) I have tried exporting the grid as an FBX but can't get it working for the life of me! ?
I don't really know the workflow to bring it to AE, but if you need an animation at the object level, look into creating a rivet object [www.sidefx.com] from a group of points on your geo.
What I was used is the Rivit node. Rivit node and made the Null a child of the Rivit Node. In the Point Group I put "*". Worked for me, hope you found this useful. I did have to mess about with the Null to match it properly.
