The default is tangent space. Are your normal maps in tangent space? Usually you don't have to plug anything into the node, other than uv coordinates.
I am not talking about tangent or object in 'normal map' node, but there is 'normal' node and then you can choose object or world and I am wondering what are use cases for object

Ahh, I misunderstood. The space on the normal node is useful if the normal is being used to generate a pattern, such as 'snow' on the tops of surfaces and you need it to stick to the transforming animation. It won't work for deformations obviously.

Just came here while Googling and finding the right answer, trying to troubleshoot quixel megascans displacement issues. Tangent space normal increases the bump detailing and object space normal reduces it at my end as of now.
With tangent space normal
With object space normal
In this video (from 2021), the tutor advised to change the 'input map type' setting for the bump map to object space normal. But tangent space works better for me.

Has redshift changed over the years or results can change in quixel megascans assets?

I only changed the texture settings in large icelanding rock formation. I didn't touch the one rock piece at all.
