Greetings,

I am new to Houdini and making my way through the foundations tutorials. I did't came very far, as I was distracted by a constant fan humming noise from below my desk. Which turned out to be not the CPU, but the GPU, as rocm-smi was able to tell me:

========================= ROCm System Management Interface =========================
=================================== Concise Info ===================================
GPU Temp (DieEdge) AvgPwr SCLK MCLK Fan Perf PwrCap VRAM% GPU%
0    65.0c           113.0W  2939Mhz  96Mhz  52.94%  auto  140.0W   13%   100%

=============================== End of ROCm SMI Log ================================

And what is it I am doing with Houdini at this moment?
..... does this work?

Anyway, in case the picture does not show up: I just opened Houdini. It's doing nothing, except for showing the empty page you see when starting it the first time. An empty viewport. Still, my gpu is more busy than when I have it render Stable Diffusion pictures or letting it display way to many particle Niagara systems in Unreal.

And I have one question: WHY?

I mean.... its annoying, it is consuming unnecessary power, and I am somewhat afraid that the whole system simply will go poof once I actually try to do something with it. And here I am, thinking that Unreals 60% idle usage was strange.... but at least it showcases some meshes while doing so (and doesn't actually go up, if you are resource aware with your particle experiments).

That is the system it is currently running on... I know, nothing I should try to use for production workloads, but it's hopefully enough to learn :
