Hello Everyone! I am attempting to create pillars and arches from low poly geo. The idea would be I would create a proxy geo that gets the shape of what I want, then through Houdini, I would get this brick pattern. Below are the methods I have tried based on this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/Houdini/comments/wlwcmu/fillingspliting_a_volume_with_cuboids_primitives/)
KD Trees - My main issue with KD trees is the result matches the edge of the proxy too close. I have yet to figure out to to get that jagged edge using this method.
Shell Packing Using UVs - This method is closer to what I'm looking to get, however, it results in gaps between the stone in awkward places, and only works on flat planes as far as I've seen.
Stacking Using Match Size - This method, as far as I've seen, does not work with the proxy geo setup I was hoping to use. Furthermore I was not able to get the secondary and tertiary level stones. That being said, I was able to get a nice result with the larger stones.
If anyone has some tips as to how they would approach this I'd be very thankful.
Thanks in advance.
