Stair-stepping in Pyro volume when using Sparse solver

I am working on a Pyro sim (Houdini Indie) and noticed that I end up with issues in the sim while using sparse mode. I cannot provide the .hiplc due to NDA but have attached an image of the problem. You can see the stair-stepping near the bottom right of the volume as it expands into unoccupied regions.

It appears that the sim is having issues when expanding into unoccupied 'sparse' regions of the growing volume. It is really apparent in the initial stages of the sim where the volume is expanding in size.

Can anyone provide any insight here? My pyro setup itself is fairly simple and is just a slightly tweaked "Simple Billowy Smoke" using the surface of a cylinder as the source input.

Thank you for your time!

Nothing definite can be said from this screenshot and without knowing what settings you use for smoke, but changing the sourcing source from torus to cylinder in the default example doesn't break anything.

Try increasing the padding of your resizing, and/or using "Expand by velocity".
