Trace Node with Right-Angle Corners that Match Image File.

Hi all,

I'm using the trace node to extrude a shape based on an image file and then apply the same image as a texture to match the geometry perfectly. The trace node effectively cuts out the inner bordered hole and the shape is generally good, but I'm having issues with the corners. Despite tweaking all the parameters, I can't get perfect right-angle corners. Technically, I only need 12 points to achieve the shape and extrude accurately. Perfect right-angle corners will be crucial at a later stage in the project when I need high-res, up-close renders where the texture map needs to match the geometry precisely.

Any suggestions or alternative methods would be appreciated!

Hi, have you tried the 'Attribute Form Map' sop on a grid, with the same poly amount as the image pixel resolution? You could then remove points/prims with a threshold - that should give you clean result.

In the hip file below you will find two setups.
