I wanted to see if I could make an entire project fully within Houdini. Normally I would do most of the heavy modeling within Maya. It was a new and unique challenge for me, and I learned a lot in the process. The tree and foliage were especially difficult.
The books are generated via a custom vex script. I wrapped it into an HDA and added it to my collection.
I usually render with Arnold, but decided to try Renderman as I was desperate for look dev speed and Renderman has an XPU option. Somehow the final renders took longer than Arnold's, but ultimately I'm reasonably happy with the result. However, in the future, I think I'm going to need to learn Karma if I need the speed of XPU.

I find myself fortunate to have taken on challenging and invigorating projects over the past 10 years. I have worked in all aspects of production. Often straddling the line between Generalist and TD. My artistic skills and sensibilities make me a strong creator, allowing me to seamlessly move between disciplines. I am thrilled by the opportunity to create immersive worlds that capture the imagination. My technical proficiency and deep understanding of data flow within a department or program enable me to innovate and overcome obstacles. I do not believe in the impossible, and I find the challenge of a new look to be as rewarding as building workflows that shape the way we create.
