This project explores the power of Houdini’s Vellum Grains to create a realistic granular simulation where sand flows dynamically over and through a mechanical keyboard. Built using the Vellum Minimal Solver in Houdini 20.5, this simulation captures the intricate interactions between fine grains and rigid surfaces.

Rendered with Karma XPU, the scene brings a cinematic quality to the movement, balancing procedural artistry and real-world physics. From grain collisions to fluid-like behavior, every detail was carefully refined to achieve natural motion.

💡 Tech Used: Houdini 20.5 | Vellum Grains | Karma XPU
🎬 Compositing: After Effects

This project was a deep dive into granular simulations, exploring the balance between control and chaos in procedural FX.

Would love to hear feedback from the Houdini community! 🚀
