I started modeling a shoe for one of my character models but kinda got carried away, so I ended up rendering out some beauty shots.
It was a pretty simple build, I used ZBrush for most of the modeling but I used Houdini for some retopology and to model the shoelaces and the stand - man I love the curve SOP. The fibers on the laces and inner padding were also done with Houdini.
The lighting was all done in Solaris, the materials are all built with MaterialX, and the final renders were done with Karma CPU.
Karma XPU was utilized for fast feedback during the look dev stage.
