GAMEDEV
Houdini provides procedural solutions to gamedevs in key areas such as realtime FX, environments, world building and automation. Houdini 18.5 strengthens that toolset in a number of ways, including Session Sync for engine plug-ins, and the introduction of KineFX for retargeting and editing character motion.
HOUDINI ENGINE | SESSION SYNC
The Houdini Engine plug-ins for Unity and UE4 now offer Session Sync which lets artists manage the same setup in both apps. Changes made in the game engine are reflected in Houdini and visa versa. Now artists can choose the best UI for the job when building their game art.
HOUDINI ENGINE | UE4 PLUG-IN V2 | BETA
The Houdini Engine for UE4 plug-in version 2 is currently in beta and includes features such as support for brushes and blueprints, PDG integration and more. Join the beta now and help us shape this important new plug-in to meet the needs of your studio.
Note: The version 2 plug-in is now available when you download and install Houdini 18.5. If you choose to install the Unreal plug-ins, the old and the new plug-ins go into a directory under Houdini and you can then move it manually to the UE_4.25\Plug-ins\Runtime directory.
KineFX | Motion Capture
With its motion retargeting and editing toolset, the new KineFX tools in Houdini 18.5 can be used to get character motion into your game engine either directly from a motion capture suit or from existing FBX clips.
SIDEFX LABS
