Instanced lights and bundles Feb. 26, 2016, 5:25 a.m.
Any one that is using bundles had any success in managing instanced lights?
My scenes are basically composed of:
props geometry (@geo_props)
prop lights (@lights_props)
characters (@geo_chars)
characters lights (@lights_chars)
For this specific environment, I have hundreds of street light that I'm using instancing. Unfortunately the instanced lights react more like objects than actual lights.
What I mean is, I don't want the characters lights to affect the props and vice versa. For that I use light mask with bundles, but the only way for the instanced lights to affect the props geometry is to not use any light mask at all. If I use * in the light mask field the instanced lights affect the geometry. If I try something like * ^@lights_chars, the instanced lights that are not even a part of any bundle already stop working.
If I try to create @lights_instanced and use it on a object light mask, I still don't get any result.
Kind of confusing, I know, but has anyone tried something like this? Instanced lights and light bundles?

Extremely long start-up time (osx) March 21, 2014, 8:51 a.m.
After I started using a wifi USB dongle I have been having really long delays to start up Houdini, open a file and start a render. Even if it is just a cube in the scene.
I'm on CentOS and using a local hosted Apprentice license. If I remove the dongle, Houdini works fine.
Any suggestions besides the ones already posted above?

Houdini particles to max Oct. 7, 2009, 9:11 a.m.
You have the wrong software names on your images
In max you can try to use particle flow to emit particles from geometry. Also on the position node, you should mark “Lock on emitter” check box, this way the particles will stick to their birth place.
