How to select Karma as the Default Renderer? July 20, 2024, 1:35 a.m.
jsmackThanks for the feedback jsmack. But then I have to export everything I done in the OBJ and SOP to USD, before importing in LOPnet?.. and in case I want to make changes to my Geometry, i'll have to export and import again? (or use SOP create/modify inside LOP... ?) which workflow is better and faster in Houdini 20.5?AntoinemrtamteYes tamte. But I was hoping there would be a way where the default Viewport showcases Karma's rendering. Like when in Maya we switch between Viewport 2.0 and Arnold in the same window.
if you are using Karma ROP, it has Karma Viewport Button
It does if you work in LOPs
Feature Request for real-time raytracing July 19, 2024, 3:37 a.m.
Dear SideFx team,
I love everything about Houdini, and I have a feature request that I believe could greatly benefit the community. While I understand that this might not be a small task in terms of development, I wanted to share my idea nonetheless.
As displayed in the picture, it would be fantastic if we could have the ability to switch between basic ray tracing and advanced path tracing renderings directly in the default viewport, without needing to open Solaris and configure ROP. Additionally, having the option to right-click each icon to configure its settings based on individual PC specs would be highly beneficial. Making these settings part of the Save Current Desktop feature would ensure that Houdini always renders using the saved configurations.
I welcome anyone to share their thoughts on this idea.
Cheers,

Yes. There happens to be this feature since 19.5. You can find the directions in the "First Person Navigation" section here:
