foam/bubbles heavyness Feb. 5, 2015, 5:06 p.m.
hello,
when writing out foam/bubbles to bgeos.sc files , the files are very big (500 MB/frame), and it takes a long time to simulate.
Is there a way to reduce these sizes during simulation..?
Main water body and splash are ok..
thanks

FLIP sim Feb. 2, 2015, 9:02 a.m.
hello,
I got a FLIP sim and want to write it out to disk.
What is the best method?
I don't want the blue cache line, because for the moment I got little ram (4GB)..
thanks,
bern

Are you sure you can't just use .mp4 which pretty much replaced .mov files. They're practically the same thing according to wikipedia. On Linux, mplay just calls out to ffmpeg to do the encoding and ffmpeg supports .mov files as well. There's just no default preset for mplay to call ffmpeg to write out .mov files. You can add your own if you want. See http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini14.0/mplay/mplay_movie_export [sidefx.com]
thanks Edward,
I had to install ffmpeg…
